A One-year Postdoc position is available at DTU Electrical Engineering.

We are pleased to announce that we seek a candidate for a Postdoc position within the area of power electronics. The overall objective of the Postdoc project is to investigate theoretically and experimentally innovative bidirectional dc-dc power converters for electro-chemical devices which are employed as energy storage units in wind farms.

Energy storage is the key technology for the future electricity grid with high-penetration renewable energy sources such as wind and solar, in order to compensate for the fluctuations from the generation as well as the consumption to achieve reliable and efficient operation.

Responsibilities and tasks
The Postdoc project has been formed for research and innovation of highly efficient modular bidirectional dc-dc converters (kW) for electrochemical storage systems used in wind farms together with industrial partners. The studied power electronic converters have the capability to obtain very high voltage gain as well as can handle high current stress on the low voltage side.

Qualifications
Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent.

Further qualifications:

  • Documented experience in working with power electronics, in particular, bidirectional dc-dc converters with galvanic isolation.
  • Experience in working with digital controllers for power converters.
  • Experience in applying wide-bandgap semiconductor (SiC or GaN) devices
  • Publications from working with dc power converters and their associated control.

We offer
We offer an interesting and challenging job in an international environment focusing on education, research, scientific advice and innovation, which contribute to enhancing the economy and improving social welfare. We strive for academic excellence, collegial respect and freedom tempered by responsibility. The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) is a leading technical university in northern Europe and benchmarks with the best universities in the world.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union. The period of employment is 1 year.

The workplace is DTU Lyngby Campus.

DTU Electrical Engineering consists of nine research groups, one of which is the Electronics Group. The Electronics Group conducts research in analogue and power electronics on physics, component, and system levels ranging from kilo-Watt fuel-cell converters and photovoltaic converters, power factor correction rectifiers & switch-mode power supplies, and hundreds-of-Watt high-efficiency switch-mode (class-D) audio power amplifiers and piezoelectric transformer based power supplies through milli-Watt ultra-low-consuming standby power supplies for consumer applications to signal conditioning electronics in e.g. microphones as well as analogue and mixed-mode IC-design such as data converters. The extensive expertise in solving energy efficiency related problems as well as presenting innovative solutions is what makes the Electronics Group an essential part of the numerous research collaboration project with the industry.

The Department of Electrical Engineering is the central department at the Technical University of Denmark in electrical, biomedical engineering and acoustic technology. It is our goal to ensure an engineering training and research, which matches that of other leading universities around the world. The department is organized into sections each covering important areas of electrical, biomedical engineering and acoustic technologies. Including PhD students we have a total of 275 staff members.

DTU is a technical university providing internationally leading research, education, innovation and scientific advice. Our staff of 5,800 advance science and technology to create innovative solutions that meet the demands of society; and our 10,600 students are being educated to address the technological challenges of the future. DTU is an independent academic university collaborating globally with business, industry, government, and public agencies.
