At DTU Electro, we combine the immense possibilities of electrical and photonics engineering. Our research is, among other things, used in the healthcare sector for diagnostics, treatment and improving the quality of life. We research into the development of more sustainable energy systems, safer autonomous systems and a faster, greener and more secure internet.

Consortium will develop the European photonic quantum computers

To pave the way for European quantum computers based on photons, the quanta of light, and on “squeezed” light: this is the challenge of EPIQUE, the research project funded with €10,340,000 by the European Commission and carried out by 18 partners from 12 countries.

Optical fiber implants will remedy Parkinson’s and stroke patients’ motor issues

Currently 1 billion people have limited movement due to neurological diseases. An EIC-backed team of researchers led by Associate Professor Christos Markos will develop neural implants to battle movement impairments.

Hunting hidden eye diseases: A quantum scanner for non-invasive biopsies

Horizon Europe backed team of researchers is developing a quantum scanner for tracking down human eye diseases using nothing but light. The quantum scanner is to be tested on mice for monitoring and detecting eye diseases. The resolution of classical laser beam scanning is sufficient to monitor cell layers in the retina but not enough for the required diagnostic accuracy. By harnessing quantum entanglement the team plans to double the image detail of the scans, to detect diseases such as glaucoma, where early diagnosis is crucial.
