Research

DTU Electro is the central DTU department within electrical and photonics engineering. We research into understanding the nature of light and electronics and all the ways in which we can control and use these. Research in electrical and photonics engineering will determine the future and new breakthroughs are needed to contribute to solving the Global Goals.

We conduct research within nanophotonics, lasers, quantum photonics, optical sensors, LEDs, photovoltaics, ultra-high speed optical transmission systems, bio-photonics, acoustics, power electronics, robotics, and autonomous systems.

Our research is used, for example, both in the healthcare sector for the treatment of diseases, development of more sustainable energy systems and of a faster greener and secure internet.

An important part of our research is carried out in close cooperation with the industry and international research institutions. It is our goal to ensure research and engineering training at the highest international level.

We educate engineers within electrical and photonics engineering technologies, offering studies at BEng, BSc, MSc and PhD levels.
